Now Available: Attendance USA Launches MTSS Tier 3 Training and Certification
Attendance USA announces that its MTSS Tier 3 training and certification is now available. The program prepares school and community professionals to lead intensive, individualized attendance support within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
Most students need only strong universal support to keep showing up. A smaller group needs targeted help. A few students face barriers so serious that only a coordinated, individualized plan will bring them back. Tier 3 serves those students, and it demands the most skill from the adults around them.
The Tier 3 program applies Attendance Science™ at the point of greatest need. Participants learn to:
- Classify each absence by its cause: truancy, school withdrawal, school avoidance, or school refusal.
- Use the Family Stability Index to find the household conditions behind chronic absence.
- Apply the SALT review (Strengths, Areas of focus, Limitations, and other Theories) before choosing a response.
- Build a coordinated plan with health, housing, family service, and community partners.
- Monitor progress and plan a graduated return to full participation.
The certification builds on the Level 1 Certified Attendance Professional™ credential and supports Attendance USA’s advanced pathway of Certified Attendance Specialist, Master, and Fellow.
“Tier 3 is where a school decides whether a child is a problem to manage or a person to reach. This certification prepares professionals to reach them.”
